B4BC - Boarding for Breast Cancer

Founders

Tina Basich

ESPN X-Games and overall Big Air and backcountry phenomenon, Tina Basich, helped make the Boarding for Breast Cancer’s Snowboard + Music Festival a success from the beginning by landing Quasar, also known as the Beastie Boys, for the inaugural event in 1996. A dear friend of Monica’s, Tina was involved in the earliest conversations for establishing the Boarding for Breast Cancer Snowboard + Music Festival and Foundation. She continues to inspire other pro riders, fans, and musicians to become active supporters Boarding for Breast Cancer Foundation.

Shannon Dunn

Olympic Bronze Medalist, Shannon Dunn, has been an avid supporter of Boarding for Breast Cancer since its inception in 1996. Shannon was a friend of Monica Steward’s and was one of the initial inspirations that helped make the event an immediate success. She is a strong believer in the concept of raising awareness and funds through youth-inspired events and programs for breast cancer research.

Lisa Hudson

Co-founder Lisa Hudson also owns Black Sun Productions, a video game production company that specializes in extreme sports video games. Prior to Black Sun, Lisa worked in the snowboarding industry where she met and became good friends with Monica Steward. Lisa's mother was diagnosed with breast cancer the same year as Monica.

Kathleen Gasperini

Co-founder Kathleen Gasperini also publishes a website and magazine called W.i.g.—for Women in General—a sports, art, music, culture magazine for young women. Monica Steward’s personal account about breast cancer ran in the inaugural issue of W.i.g. in 1995. Kathleen also writes for various magazines and websites about youth culture, sports, and women’s issues. She is a co-founder of Label Networks—a leader in remote market research services.

Brad Steward

Brad Stewart became a B4BC Board Member to honor the memory of his Aunt Monica. A snowboard industry pioneer, Brad has launched many of the most influential brands - most recently, Bonfire Snowboarding, now a division of Adidas/Salomon. He is President of CROVA, a film and television production company based in Portland, OR.

Justine Chiara

Music industry veteran Justine Chiara first became aware of B4BC when she scheduled one of her artists to perform at the Snowboard + Music Festival. Upon relocating to Los Angeles from New York in 2000, Justine started to manage professional surfers, along with her music clients. Through her surfer clients, she met B4BC co-founder Lisa Hudson and became more involved with the Foundation. In 2000, Justine was named Director of New Business Development. She became a Board Member and Executive Director in January 2001. Justine and her family lost her mother to breast cancer after a 10 year battle in the spring of 2001.

Kevin Lyman

Each year, Kevin and his team at 4 fini inc. volunteer their time and energy to handle onsite music production at B4BC events. Kevin’s extensive music industry background includes work with top bands like Janes Addiction, Stone Temple Pilots, and Nine Inch Nails and entertainment industry jobs in management, booking, tour pre-production, production management, and tour origination. He started and owns 4 fini inc., the international touring festival, Vans Warped Tour, and Watcha Tour and is a partner on other national tours. Most recently, Kevin paired with Immortal Entertainment to run that company’s Touring division . Kevin, who lost his mother to breast cancer, is on B4BC’s Board of Advisors.
